Yoga is essentially a spiritual discipline based on an extremely subtle science, which focuses on bringing harmony between mind and body. It is an art and science of healthy living. The word ‘Yoga’ is derived from the Sanskrit root ‘Yuj’, meaning ‘to join’ or ‘to yoke’ or ‘to unite’.

Yoga gives physical and cognitive health benefits to people of all generations. And, if you’re going through an ailment, regaining from surgery or living with a chronic circumstance, yoga can become a crucial role in your therapy and potentially hasten to rebuild you.

Benefits of Yoga:

  1. Yoga improves stability, balance and flexibility. Slow actions and deep breathing boost blood flow and generate heat in muscles while holding a pose .This builds stamina.
  2. Yoga helps with back pain relaxation. It is as good as basic stretching for easing pain in people with lower back pain. The American College of Physicians recommends yoga as a first-line treatment for chronic low back pain with no neurological deficit.
  3. Yoga can ease your arthritis indications. Gentle yoga has been shown to ease some of the irritations of tender, bulged joints for people with arthritis.
  4. Yoga boosts heart health. Regular yoga practice may reduce levels of anxiety and body-wide rash, contributing to a stronger heart.
  5. Yoga relaxes you, to help you sleep adequately. Research shows that a compatible bedtime yoga routine can help you get in the right perspective and formulate your body to fall asleep and stay asleep.
  6. Yoga can provide more power and optimistic moods. You may feel raised mental and physical energy, a boost in attention and confidence, and limited unfavourable impressions after getting into a routine of practising yoga.
  7. Yoga helps you manage stress. The scientific evidence shows that yoga supports stress management, mental health, mindfulness, healthy eating, weight loss and quality sleep.
  8. Yoga facilitates decent self-care. When the mind is at peace, so is the body. It motivates us to accept how little things matter for us and how much difference they make in the end.
  9. Yoga relieves  menstrual discomfort and chronic pain

I conclude with a short poem by our great writer Rabindranath Tagore Ji:

Where words come out from the depth of truth;

Where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection;

Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way into the dreary desert sand of dead habit;

Where the mind is led forward by thee into ever-widening thought and action

Into that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awake.

Let us rise above all the lies, negativity, discouragement, distress, discomfort to be who we were created to fulfil.
