What Urine, Sputum, and Stool Colours Say About Your health.
Urine Color:
- Clear or light yellow: Well-hydrated, normal health.
- Dark yellow or amber: Dehydration, need for more fluids.
- Orange: Possible liver or bile duct issues, or dehydration.
- Red or pink: Blood in urine (hematuria), can indicate infection, kidney stones, or more serious conditions.
- Cloudy: Urinary tract infection (UTI) or kidney problems.
- Brown: Possible liver disease or severe dehydration.
- Foamy: Possible kidney issues or high protein levels.
Sputum (Mucus) Color:
- Clear: Normal, healthy, or viral infection.
- White or gray: Congestion or early sign of respiratory infection.
- Yellow or green: Bacterial infection, such as bronchitis or pneumonia.
- Brown or rust-coloured: Chronic lung disease, or old blood from infection or injury.
- Red or pink: Blood present, could be tuberculosis, lung cancer, or other serious conditions.
- Black: Smoking, inhalation of pollutants, or fungal infection.
Feces Color:
- Brown: Normal, healthy digestion.
- Green: Rapid digestion, consuming green vegetables, or bile issues.
- Yellow: Fat malabsorption or issues with the pancreas.
- Black or tarry: Possible upper gastrointestinal bleeding.
- Red: Lower gastrointestinal bleeding, hemorrhoids, or consumption of red-colored foods.
- Pale or clay-colored: Liver or gallbladder issues, indicating bile flow problems.
- Mucus in stool: Inflammation in the intestines, possibly due to infection or inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).
By monitoring these colour changes, you can detect potential health issues early and seek medical advice if necessary.
