Among the distinguished alumni of Government Medical College (GMC), Srinagar, Prof. Faroque Ahmad Khan stands out as a pioneering figure. A proud member of the institution’s first graduating batch, Prof. Khan began his medical journey at a time when the college itself was in its formative years. From those humble beginnings, he went on to achieve international acclaim.

After securing a meritorious position during his medical training, Prof. Khan moved to the United States, where he pursued advanced training in Internal Medicine, followed by a specialization in Pulmonary Medicine. His academic brilliance and clinical acumen quickly earned him leadership roles, and he rose to the position of Program Director—a role through which he shaped the careers of hundreds of physicians.

Prof. Khan has made remarkable contributions to the field of pulmonary medicine, not just through clinical excellence, but also as a mentor and educator. Many of his trainees now serve in various parts of the world, carrying forward his legacy of knowledge, compassion, and dedication.
